The New Hampshire Furniture Masters Association:

The New Hampshire Furniture Masters Association (NHFMA) was founded in 1995 as a means of continuing the state's legacy of fine furniture making. Its members are committed to maintaining their craft as a full-time profession by generating public awareness of their works and cultivating an audience for their creations. The Masters hail from across New Hampshire as well as from Massachusetts, Maine, and Vermont and create studio furniture in an array of styles including Period, Early American, Shaker, Neo-Classical, Traditional, Contemporary and Art Furniture. The Furniture Masters share knowledge and experiences with one another, host educational initiatives that engage local citizens in the tradition of fine furniture making, and participate in exhibits and an annual auction that generate a market for their works. In addition to their work within New Hampshire, many of the Masters also teach at woodworking schools across the United States and in Canada. The Furniture Masters create the majority of their handcrafted furniture on commission, collaborating with an individual or corporate patron to determine the materials, style, functionality and budget for a given piece. Their works may be seen in many private homes and public spaces as well as in the collections of the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American Art; the Currier Museum of Art; the Bennington Museum, Bennington, VT; the American Craft Museum in New York; the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; and the Johnson Collection (Objects USA) to name but a few.
